★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rotorua lake is right on the doorstep of Rotorua city. It mostly provides a serene backdrop to most of the tourist activities around the city.
However, the myriad of bird life on and over its surface is balanced well with low impact paddle boat and float plane tours.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As an ADS accredited tour guide, prior to Covid global pandemic, I used to drive tourists to this place very often. Starts from the Govn gardens, to here. But this recent visit I realised that a total facelift of this lake front rot, I couldn’t recognise any longer. The old roads and bus parking lots are now ped crossings, even the locals are struggling to find parks for their small pax cars. Now they have to park on yellow dotted lines.
By all means it is good for the rot regional council now the lakes council to create more space for the locals, but pls do think of the tourism industry when they are all back on day. You will be out of all the parking resources for coaches, visitors. I have to say this is a stupid move by the lakes council after all.
