About Us
History: The Rotorua Thermal Holiday Park is the oldest motor camp in Rotorua. It was established by the Rotorua Borough Council in the mid-1920s, and was originally known as the “Rotorua Borough Motor Camp”. From its establishment in the 1920s through until about the late-1950s, the Holiday Park was originally located further north at the corner of Old Taupo Road and Sophia Street. It moved to its present location, opposite the Arikikapakapa Golf Course, in the early 1960s. The site of the Holiday Park was originally gifted to the Crown by the local Maori people under the “Fenton Agreement” of 25 November, 1880, for recreational purposes.
Surroundings: In the heart of Rotorua's scenic attractions, walking distance to geysers and closet park to one of the best mountain biking trails in the world. Rotorua Thermal Holiday Park offers native protected trees to New Zealand, dotted around the property offering you the opportunity to embrace nature. Native birds to New Zealand often visit the park, the famous Tui bird is often spotted along with our friendly fantails, darting in front of you looking for the bugs you stir up while walking.
Accommodation: Ranges from unpowered tent sites, powered sites, standard family cabins, standard log cabins, ensuite standard cabins, ensuite log cabins, kitchen cabins and self contained units for up to 10 people.
Park Amenities: Heated swimming pool (7:30 AM - 7:30 PM (winter), 7:30 AM - 10:00 PM (summer)), bike storage, bike cleaning station, TV room, barbecues, play area, kids mountainbike area, laundry, linen and towel hire, communal dining area/lounge area, showers/toilet's, dump station, recycling bins, tour desk at reception, Wifi, eftpos/visa/mastercard accepted and Fly Buys.

Would defiantly recommend the motel room if you can stretch to it, but the cabin was lovely and snug too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed in the campground - felt more in the middle of nature/amongst trees vs. other campgrounds we visited in Rotorua.
Kitchen was clean, plenty of fridges. Microwave / toaster / toastie machine / hot water/BBQ available. Loved the herb garden. Bring your own pots/pans/cutlery etc
Four hot pools and cold pool available.
TV room a bonus for rainy days.
Only thing to be cautious of is that at night there are a lot of truckers who pass by on the main road that backs the campground, so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

A cute log cabin, complete with a queen bed, bunks, bathroom, kitchenette, dining table, plenty of space for luggage, cosy bedding, ample parking, thermal heated pools, tranquil surroundings and no road noise - all for $110 per night! Wonderful.

There has been so much changes and the cabins have been renewed and upgraded as well as the pool. Always enjoy sitting in the hot pools its one of the highlight of this place. We always enjoyed our stays and we will always go back unless they can't accommodate us. Thanks for having us.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The most amazing campsite on our roadie so far. Spacious, beautiful grounds make for an uncrowded feel, even in the peak of summer. Everything Is an amazing quality and maintained to a great Standard for a holiday park. Free heated swimming pool, and range of facilities including kitchen/ laundry / dining and lounge make for a very comfortable camping experience. Also the nicest and cleanest bathroom and shower rooms than any camp area I've experienced. It is not central to town or the lake but is a very short and easy drive down the main street to all activities and lakes- the facilities and quality of the park definitely make up for this though.
10/10 will definitely be back!!!!!!!
