About Rotorua Ziplines
Reforestation is more than offsetting CO2, it is protecting the waterways, before we arrived exotic weeds were dominating natural reforestation and leaking nitrogen into our awa.
Our first mission was to remove Gorse and other invasive weeds to reduce this nitrogen leaking and fast track our reforestation process.
As we journey deeper into our mission, the ecosystems reliance on all parts has become more clear. The fragile hinges on which Aotearoa's indigenous flora and fauna hangs require our immediate actions to ensure their place in our world.
As we established our infrastructure it became apparent that our forest was in dire need of help. 150 Year old natives trees were falling down due to the impacts of introduced species like the possum.
Bird life had become sparse from introduced predators and our efforts had to be broadened to keep our towering trees standing tall and proud.

Sam and his team have created a truly special experience that I will never forget. The birds-eye views over the Kaituna River are incredible, the boardwalks through the Okere falls forest are stunning and the exhilarating zip lines and swing bridge make for an awesome time! But what really makes this experience different from the others is Sam and his team's passion for the area and the difference they are making through this experience. You will learn about Maori culture and tradition, sip on healing herbal tea and contribute to their reforestation mission, a truly unforgettable experience and a must-do if visiting Aotearoa.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wow! This is a must do for everyone. Sam and his team are such great guides. They are very health and safety conscious but ensure you are relaxed and that everyone has a good time. Their care of the natural environment is evident from their design of walkways to having guests plant native trees in the reserve and informing us of the medicinal properties of the plants. The Kawakawa tea at the halfway mark was really refreshing.

The staff felt like friends and the wider cultural and ecological aspects of the trip made this a richer experience but the icing on the cake was ziplining over the beautiful Okere River. The swing bridge added another challenge, I chose to zipline over it but the others walked it. Just wow. Well done to all involved and thanks.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing experience, a must do. The zip lines were so fun! And the views throughout were unbeatable, our guide Sam letting us hang for a while wherever possible to take in the views over the falls. We also learnt so much about the area, Sam was very knowledgeable and super passionate about the conservation of the area and of the local forest, even giving us a chance to help in steps the team is taking to replant sections of land that had been cleared for farming.
The experience and surprises along the way far exceeded any expectations we had, all round a truely fantastic experience and would highly recommend to anyone of any age! Mum who just turned 60 loving that she too could hang upside down just like the kids do with our encouragement.
