★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not so sure why some rotting posts get a review but not the beach. So adding the whole beach here. Lots of free parking in St Clair which is rare for a beach these days, and especially one as nice as St Clair. Walked along the soft sand for a bit. Watch out for the high tide as it comes right up to the sea wall up near the road way.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Easy access, Time it right with some interesting clouds, a sunrise or sunset and you might have an amazing photo in just one click. We were lucky enough to snap something amazing. Use the pier to lead your eye to the distant island and you are in for a killer shot. Easy as pie!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The poles used to be this amazing skeleton of an old pier and remained fairly unchanged all the time I was growing up in Dunedin during the 80s and 90s. Over the past five years they have steadily been destroyed by king tides and erosion. Now there are just a few of the old poles remaining, but still creating a pathway to the sea that continues to be a popular photo subject.
