★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We drove from Auckland and stayed over the night on Thursday in our campervan. Great facilities! Bathroom was clean, kitchen area was really clean with cleaning equipment and fridge provided! Staff at the main office was really friendly :) we've had a lovely stay! Thank you :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a beautiful specially if you get a spot next to the water. The place is a bit old but busy when we get there. People enjoyed they're afternoon kayaking and swimming even though it's a bit chilly ( winter). It's probably because they got pretty good location. We ask them if they got rooms available during Christmas they said they are fully book already at the start of the year. So this place is truly a treasure. The only down side of this place is no close supermarket so make sure you got everything you need before you come down because you don't wanna be back to the traffic. No walking distance take away.?.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Checked site before planned holiday but far too small for our friends tent, so couldn't go. Tried to contact Sandspit to cancel (with plenty of notice), but no response or communications at all. I wouldn't recommend bothering with this camp ground.

Pros: amazing waterfront spot.
Cons: Mattress sagy with wire spring poking through, black mold, rot, green algae in bathroom, undrinkable tap water, kitchen appliances and utensils had heat damage/melted. Hole building had a musty smell especially in under sink cabinet.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ok place to stay. Nice tidy bathroom and kitchen. But the grounds could do with a tidy up. And the rubbish bins were well over flowing. Feeding the sea gulls.
