The best spot for bday lunch with friends! We shared 3 platter meals for 2 between 6 of is which was a great way to try a selection of dishes. Citrus Roll is still my fave ?

Definitely not Japanese, it’s more fusion. It’s pretty pricey, but it does the job. I think the atmosphere is the winner here. The food can be a bit too much rice for me, and the cream cheese doesn’t really do it for me. Also not a huge fan or deep fried sushi ??‍♀️. Would love to see an actual Japanese experience, like local fish, a selection of seafoods, and even a cool sushi boat! But maybe the customers are too concerned. It’s a nice place very central and well decorated.

Very average this time. Mains came out before the entrees, some items missing, excuses about short staffed due to COVID, not sure what this has to do with the order of food as it still came out quickly. Service was good apart from one exception. The food tasted good, but the presentation was terrible. It's a shame because we've had some very good experiences here.

We were a group of eight people visiting for dinner. The service and welcome was friendly. Unfortunately we were missing a few items for starters and kept having to ask, items arrived at different intervals which left some people not having starters at the same time. The menu is not authentically Japanese as 90% of the sushi options involved cream cheese, which is really not a thing at all. The best dishes that stood out for us was the beef yakatori - well cooked and very flavoursome and the citrus roll (without cream cheese). All in all a pleasant experience, but not something outstanding and make me want to return ASAP.

Excellent meal, we had our 2 year old daughter with us and they had simple easy kids options with special chop sticks she could use, she loved it. Food was yummy, fresh and service great and attentive. We will definitely be back on our next visit to the mount

Amazing food, the Ceviche Roll is a must, with a cold Asahi on tap, and for desert the Fried Ice Cream, yumm!! Thanks for a great service, chefs and staff.

Overpriced, undersized, inauthentic, unwelcoming, not tasty. First red flags come at the menu. $23 for two chicken skewers? $9 for two pieces of salmon nigiri? If there is enough salmon to sell two pieces of nigiri for $9, the nigiri is too big. Satori's nigiri is not too big. Had the satori platter for two which includes edamame, 2pc nigiri, 9pc futomaki and tempura of your choice. Edamame somehow came last. Service was cold - dishes placed on the far side of our table without a word. They told us they can't do umeshu hot, which makes no sense as they can do sake hot. Just put the umeshu in the sake bottle! So it comes served diluted with soda and with ice. Flavorless and baffling. Fish quality was mixed - decent for the nigiri, very poor for the futomaki. Unfortunately the rice doesn't hold together in the nigiri so there is no way to dip the fish in soy sauce without it falling apart. Futomaki quality is abysmal. Maki mono takeaway at Bayfair does a better job. Terrible fish, flavorless prawn, cloying cheese and a huge amount of tasteless rice. Satori is unashamedly inauthentic and while I think there is nothing inherently wrong with that, there is certainly a lot wrong with the execution of this restaurant. Somehow Satori manages to be the worst of all worlds and doesn't even meet the mark set by cheap lunchtime sushi takeaway spots around town. In Tauranga, the standard is low, Satori still falls short. Pros here are a better range of menu options than other Japanese places in Tauranga, Asahi on tap (wish I wasn't driving!), and a lovely outdoor garden area. If you come, reserve a table outside. Indoors is pretty stuffy.
