About Scarecrow
It began when Alison and Paul moved into the city and struggled to find a central city stockist of the foods they wanted daily. They were looking for quality fresh breads, organic coffee, artisan cheeses, fresh olive oils, organic produce and more. And so, without any real understanding of running a retail and hospitality business, Alison and Paul launched Scarecrow. A place to find good things to eat, build community relationships and foster small artisan producers.
They believe a city functions best when residents, workers and visitors can walk or cycle to find all their core necessities. A city should be a friendly place where it’s easy to feel at home, and where you can still access great specialty things that you might otherwise have to go to the farm to find!
Established in 2014, Scarecrow aims to be this place. Supported by a fantastic team, Alison and Paul continue to evolve their vision to offer the best we can to the local Auckland community.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful cafe!!! Easily the best coffee in CBD. Organic ingredients, lot's of vegetarian/vegan options. Plusss they have a grocer section for organic goodies!! Everything from my pantry is from here. Also amazingly friendly staff and services, makes you feel like home, love it when staff give you big smile, and remembers your coffee order. I literally come here everyday and i wouldn't know what to do if they close one day!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An overall disappointing experience. Tea infuser was too short for the teapot and didn’t steep efficiently. First order of poached eggs for both of us was over cooked and and the chef knew they were but served them anyway. The second (replacement) order was under cooked. We paid for our drinks and went to eat elsewhere. To be fair, the coffee my friend got was great.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We arrived at 4:30pm on a weekend so they were close to shutting up. I needed caffeine stat, but they had stopped the espresso machine. They helped me out with some black tea and then found some filter coffee too. Both the tea and the coffee were really good and the service was super despite the challenge of our timing. They did an excellent hot chocolate too.
