Real Indian spice level (not kiwi level), and oh my gosh, if you like onion bhaji, you have to try the Southern style one over the Northern one ? we will be back, we had the mixed platter which included Tikka chicken, cigar, samosa and bhaji, followed with THE most amazing cheesy garlic Naan I have ever had! Somehow we then managed to fit in a lamb Rogan Josh and chicken jalfrezi that were both exceptional. The samosa pastry was beautifully light, crispy and hit all the right spots! Come here and support local, you won't regret it!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Unfortunately very disappointed with the food. The curries were bland with little to no spices and the chicken was full of connective tissue/gristle. The butter naan’s were very chewy, tasted old, and didn’t taste of butter and were super overpriced for what they were. On the plus side, the portion sizes were great and the staff were friendly but we won’t be going back as the food was a real disappointment.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The best Indian food in Auckland you really need to get the cheese and garlic naan, the samosa, chicken cigar, the Rogan Josh and Curry goat.
By far the best Indian food I've had in NZ.
Listen you need to ask for the south indian onion bhajji.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just grabbed a small Lamb Rogan Josh to take away... and it was very good! Delicious aromatic flavours and the lean meat was cooked nicely. It was also a good portion size for a small female like me, but you'll definitely want a large if you are a hungry guy or if you want leftovers.
It took around half an hour from the time I phone ordered, and I was only waiting for around 3mins when I came to pick up at the informed time.
Overall I enjoyed the meal and am looking forward to trying out more at this little local spot :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’ve ordered takeaway from Shahi a few times recently, having just moved to the area last month. Both times the food was very tasty, and a good portion size. The staff were also nice to deal with and the orders were ready promptly. Will be a regular choice.
