★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Reserve is not closed. Just the path itself to the bottom of the falls is closed, and if you want to see them you can boulder-hop up the river.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The track is closed, has been since 2016. The websites and guidebooks advertising the area failed to mention it. Better to know before you set off I guess. The other walk up the hill is hardwork, but enjoyable views at the top

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely bush walk in beech forest so close to our motor camp at Mt Somers. So much to explore around here. Picturesque virgin stream (gives way to open cattle country shortly after) with small champaign pools in the forest, alive with bellbird, rifleman, bush wren, and we even spotted deer prints. Track is well maintained, with excellent steps. Flush toilets and shelter in the car park with adequate signage.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent tramping around Mt Somers- but note that DoC pamphlet published 2014 just before waterfall track was permanently closed, is still being handed out. I agree with other reviewers that "Sharplin Falls" carpark to Dukes Knob is steep and not really an 'easy' section as indicated in DoC pamphlet.
