The Staveley Cafe opened in 1876 and is located roadside along the Scenic Inland Route 72 at the small town of Staveley. It is rather easy to find when approaching from either direction. Opening hours are 9am to 4pm daily. It is a quaint little place to make a roadside pit stop for food, drinks and to rest your feet. During our visit, we found their coffee and Lemon, Honey and Ginger Tea to be fine. We quite enjoyed the venison & cranberry sausage roll as well. There is a sundry shop section as well that is worth a quick look-see if interested.

Great staff, the personal touch. Despite riding passed for many years I have never stopped. My loss.

Want to sample the best coffee in mid Canterbury? Then take a drive out to the Staveley Store. Nestled beneath the forested slopes of Mount Somers, close to some superb bush walks and alpine hikes, the store is a Staveley institution. Established in 1876 as a general store servicing the surrounding timber mills and farms, the store continues that tradition with its selection of locally-sourced meat, home-baked goods and sausage rolls that are the talk of the county! The Station Farm ShopΒ at the store is the showroom for products produced by Mt Somers Station, and is packed packed full of seasonal farm produce including lamb, venison, veal, honey and small goods; premium wines and olive oil; as well as other premium products sourced from local family owned businesses. But it’s the coffee that is the real drawcard. Sit outside on the verandah and watch the world go by over the rim of your coffee cup. Superb!
