DOC has 2 hour return but for us was 1 hour return. We went during winter and I believe it was the best time to go because of the volume of rain that makes this waterfall awesome. I really enjoyed the tranquility and beauty of this Fall. One of my top 5 waterfalls I have visited in New Zealand.

Really unique waterfall. Can wade right out to it if you want. Worth the short walk. Path is well formed and actually much shorter than the sign suggests. Took us 1 hour return only.

The best falls I have seen so far in the north island. The walk to the falls is also nice and easy. The falls look majestic. Good place for a dip. The water is knee deep. You can spot harmless eels in the water.

Breathtaking. Done the walk in bare feet with a friend and it was a bit hard on the feet so we used the natural resources (leaves on the terrain) to improvise and make something to cover them. Would highly reccomend this 40 minute walk that takes you to a beautiful waterfall with ice cold water and spectacular views.

Stunning waterfall, well worth the 45 minute walk each way. The track starts across farmland with huge rock formations - and lots of cowpats. The track is narrow and slippery in places - a hiking stick would be useful. Pretty bush, lots of bird song and crystal clear water.

Fantastic place, easy enough walk for a toddler (3yo) took 1:15 with toddler walking themselves most of the way. Pond at the bottom of the waterfall has a nice sandy bottom and is refreshing to wade/swim in. Walk has minimal dangers. Highly recommended.

A beautiful majestic & tall waterfall at least 20km inland off SH2. Its remote & back-country type environment that’s holiday makers paradise. The car park is big enough to park at least 20 cars. It’s a quite easy & enjoyable walk from the car park to the waterfall, via open land, then gentle uphill, then bush walk & finally reaching the Falls. It’s only 20-30 mins one way depends on physical status. The water is clear & cool. It’s great to have a great soak & dip after the walk

Spectacular waterfall that flows over towering sandstone cliffs into a small pool. The track to Shine Falls starts in open grassy farmland that meanders under towering sandstone and limestone cliffs then passes through a patch of native bush in the Boundary Stream Scenic Reserve before arriving at the falls where there is a swimming hole and picnic tables. Stunning spot to go for a walk or even a swim if you are brave.
