★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely food. Lovely atmosphere. Exceptional menu and seating. Staff were well-mannered and prompt, and didn't leave us feeling like our table didn't matter.
Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great italian not too far from the beach.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Food was fantastic, best meal I have had in NZ. Lamb was cooked to perfection, paired with roasted root vegetables that had a wonderful, natural glaze. Roasted potatoes lightly browned, creamy on the inside. The pork belly was also very nicely done, the mash hearty and flavorful. Cabbage provided a nice counter-point. Highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is our first time dining in the ristorante, and the mains were excellent. We really enjoyed the duck comfit (Anatra) and roast pork (Porchetta). We had the Tiramisu for dessert ... it was okay, but not quite what we were expecting --- maybe needed a dash more marsala in the tiramisu. That said, we'll definitely come back for more another time, because the pasta dishes sound nice too. The menu is a bit on the pricey end, but hey it's worth it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fairly average service. Slow and not overly attentive. At one point I had the go and find the wait staff for a drink. Food was ok, but not outstanding. The Mariara was particularly disappointing - very bland and lacked a good stock in the preparation. The duck was the winner on the night.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My wife and I dined there on Monday night for the first time in over a year and since new management. I had no idea what to expect, but the menu was remarkably similar and the Head chef used to work with the previous chef. We had garlic bread, calamari, beef cheek cannelloni and chicken and mushroom fettuccine. All of them were superb and some of the finest Italian food I have tasted. The salad that came with the cannelloni was exceptional. I do not often get excited about a salad, but the perfect balance of ingredients and dressing perfectly offset the richness of the beef cheek. All in all a superb dining experience and I will be back without hesitation. Thanks for a great food experience.
