Our story
Here we introduce very traditional Italian cuisine. our dishes mostly reflect a Northern influence, but more importantly the inspiration come from the resources of New Zealand produce. Our dishes represent a certain AL FRESCO quality. Our aim is to develop a style which reflects the best of Italian tradition with the freshness and abundance of New Zealand.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nicely presented Italian food especially their Pizzas, Veal with tasty mushroom sauce, and eye fillet steaks!! Medium-small sized portions only!! Their tiramisu desserts are beautiful ? ?
Our waitress was amazingly attentive. The food came out fast. But the Manager with his worried face was at times rather off putting!!??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Portofino Restaurant is an excellent Italian restaurant located on Wellington's Waterfront. Spectacular views of the harbour can be enjoyed while savouring delicious Italian cuisine. The staff were professional, polite and friendly. My colleague and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and would definitely recommend Portofino to others.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is ideal for customer service, fantastic cocktails & delicious Italian food. Some of my favourite cocktails come from here & the pizzas have definitely been our favourite. We even found recently that they’ve gotten even better which they were amazing already! Reimagined into fluffy, mouthwatering bites & so eager to come back for more. The pasta is also amazing but could have slightly bigger portions as I felt a little hungry still. But because of the amazing service & food we love coming back every time, so thank you Portofino Wellington! ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The vibe here is that of being sophisticated and accommodating with the staff working furiously in the background to ensure the deliciously fresh food and amazing drinks (cocktails) are presented well and delivered efficiently. Attention to detail was very obvious during my visit. And what a view!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went there once during the first week of January. Online they had a different menu and in the restaurant they had holiday (reduced items) menu. But they still did a few basic items that weren't on the menu.
We ordered garlic bread (not on holiday menu), risotto, rigatoni, and a chicken main dish. The food was good.
However the day we went, they were short-staffed and it took quite long to get order/food (no complain here, just highlighting the stress on the staff).
