Very nice and comfortable first aid training center, classrooms, tutors, and staff. They will even get food delivered to you for lunch or dinner breaks during your course so that you don't need to worry about going anywhere. Free tea and coffee and such too. Dedicated first aid training parking spaces and the bus stop isn't too far away.

It’s been more than two months since I left St John, I loved my job helping our elderly was a blessing. I was hired through a recruitment agency, first they told me my contract was only for 3 months, when I went for a meeting with my team leader she told me they have changed my contract to an ongoing contract because they liked me and my work , months passed away I would get upset thinking I’ve been here long enough but why aren’t they raising any question of making me permanent , I would cry when I got home from work and ignore my worries thinking they would make me permanent one day. When I asked my team leader when would they make me permanent she answered at the moment we are planning to do a structure change in the company and You would definitely get a chance to apply for a permanent role, then she said at the moment you’re doing “slavery “ for us. A year and two months passed away I started asking my team leader and even emailed my manager if they would make me permanent, no one gave me a clear answer, I knew something wasn’t right and so I started looking for other jobs, the sad part is imagine elderly women hating on a 22 year old, I thought woman were meant to support other woman but it came out all wrong. One day our new monitoring manager came to me taps on my shoulder telling me they will bring my contract to an ending date when I asked her why she said your role has been transferred to Christchurch, I mean hello I’ve been here 1 year 2 months why don’t you wana hire me, I cried the whole night when I got home, they never bothered calling me the next day when I never showed up for work, like wow so much ignorance that they never even tried contacting me yet made my recruitment team call me and ask if I was coming to work, I was scrolling through seek the next day and was shocked to see my role had already been advertised in Auckland, like wow the hate, jealousy and “racism “ just runs in some humans veins... I mean if I wasn’t good enough they probably would have fired me within the trial period, but nope they loved playing games with me because they knew I would never speak up or call in sick and would always work weekends and public holidays so they kept me hanging, I’m at a better place now with some kind hearted people around me who are healthy for my mental health. The reason I’m being public about it because they never gave me a chance to speak up for my self . This shady behaviour and hatered is not acceptable in a charity community. I hope and pray no one ever goes through what I went through , it’s unfair, sad and very unprofessional. Everyone deserves to be treated equally and not stereotyping someone based on their gender or race. We are all humans and bleed the same colour remember that.

We have been trying to contact St John to arrange a bequest to be given in our wills. Phone call, we were passed around and around, so we gave up, completed online form and heard back from the 'first aid training' dept! Despite explaining the situation to them, we still await a response, so, we did another online form. Over two weeks since we started this, still no response

After reading Michell's story, as a regular donor to St John, I starts to hesitate... WOW. seemingly nice people on the outside but horrible inside. My original thoughts are very simple: to donate and relieve some of the funding shortfall St John is facing so that it is eventually benefitting everybody in an emergency situation. Looking at the appalling way they treat their employee makes me realise potentially an injured person may not receive as proper care/rescue largely based on one's race. I will look for better organisations to donate now. IF THERE IS ANY.
