★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An absolute little gem in Orewa. The bar is decorated like a beach hut and the menu is great. Nicely cooked classic beach food. Good friendly service and reasonably priced. As this is a club there is a small membership fee well worth it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The location and views are fantastic but the food and treatmetment is a different story. The ceviche was served without any coriander and very blunt so I asked the waitress to confirm the ingredients, she took the plate away and said that the chef said it had some. For my surprise, the waitress never bought my plate back or replacement. I also question why we were asked for a security credit card to open a tab and other patrons have not been asked the same. I personally had a bad experience and will not go back any time soon.

While under lockdown 3, walking past their temporary window i decided to have a coned icecream.
Options were a kid size, 1 scoop or 2 scoop
1 scoop was $4.90. I chose flavour and couldn't quite believe what was scooped up.
At the point when my credit card would not be accepted 3 times in a row, I should have accepted the omen and told them to put it where the sun cant shine. It was a transmission error.
Foolishly I grabbed $5 cash and handed that over with no offer of change.
The scoop was the size of a golf ball, and it was actually in a kiddie size cone.
A total wrought, one which I wont be repeating at the surf club. Once bitten twice shy, I shall be taking my local business elsewhere in future.

Place overall greasy and dirty.

Maybe my expectations were different... some menu items looked pricey ... mixed reviews from people in our party.. some enjoyed their meals.. fish & chips a bit oily.. we have become more accustomed to air frying, which introduces a bias away from deep fry fish. Chips nice and crisp.
