★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing day out on the water today at Taiaroa Head. First time I have viewed it from the water, usually I've driven to the royal albatross colony and stood on top of Taiaroa Head. Abundant wildlife to see including fur seals, albatross, seagulls, shags, sooty shearwaters and baby squid. Nature at it's best.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A simply beautiful place to visit to enjoy the scenery, the views of the lighthouse, and to get some amazing photos!
There is a large parking lot at the end of the road, and it is free. It’s only a 5 minute walk to the walkways and overlooks.
There is a bird sanctuary adjacent to the viewing area, so you might see some seabirds, albatross species, etc, and get some great photos.
A definite place that you should drive out to see when you are in the area!
