About Take The Reins
I have always had a love from horses, right from when I was a little girl. In the holidays I would go to my uncle’s farm in Frasertown, where I would want to be with the farm horses every chance I got.
I started my riding journey at 12 years old, when we moved to Meeanee. My first horse was an off-the-track thoroughbred, Monty, who definitely tested my riding abilities!
I then moved on to my first pony, a three year old called Milly. This is where by passion for training horses began.
We didn’t have much financially, but my parents’ support was a huge part of me being more determined to train horses from scratch to train and produce them to a high competitive level.
I have competed all around New Zealand, following the show circuit and pony club champs. This is also where I gained all my certificates.
I started instructing at 21, which grew my passion even more to share what I know with others.
I created Take The Reins from the ground up in 2017, and all my past experiences have moulded the business to what it is today - a place with a standard of care and safety that I believe are second to none in Hawke’s Bay.
I’m a very driven and dedicated passionate horsewoman with a vision and goals.
I’m really looking forward to having you a part of the Take The Reins journey!

Whatever it is, Take The Reins is amazing for all ages. The ponys and horses there are also so amazing and they really look after their riders.
