Wonderful part of the coast with great walks and abundant marine life. Beautiful on a calm day and dramatic on a rough Southerly. Perfect for photo opportunities at sunset and during storms.

We went at around 4pm and had the chance to see horses that one of the Wellington clubs keep in the reserve. Friendly horses who are very happy to be stroked. Our 2 y.o certainly loved it! There are walking tracks/bike tracks through the area with stunning views.

There is an amazing spot for freedom camping with nice toilets just in front of beaches. You can have a great walk on the beach. Recommended to everyone

It is such a beautiful place. Especially when its sunny it is is amazing. You have a nice beach there and some nice rocks that you can just sit on. You can watch the planes takeoff and ships sail far away. We had a nice bone fire there. In the evening its so beautiful. Loved it.

This whole sea sea side is a beautiful beaches areas, but the whole beach side is not allowed tenting only certified camper van free of charge, Freedom camping is only allowed certified campervan , if u just sleep in your car for the first time u will get security guard coming around 1am and give u a warning letter. The whole tapueranga area has no tenting place please dont come planning of tenting. The nearest tenting area outta of this area is like 50 mins away, so just dont plan come here with freedom camping the nearest holiday park is also very far 40 mins driving. The diving is fun but water is extremely cold bare in mind not normal swimming suit would be ok for the diving. seen people diving and snorkeling in different area in this whole marine reserve. Mainly snorkeling by the island bay with a few boat along side the beach. But seen people diving and snorkeling by princess bay and other bays. There are public toilet available anywhere but not allowed washing face or brushing teeth there. There is one education centre by the island bay with fish flag out. $5 dollar ticket u can really feel the marine lives.and also feed the fish free. Highly recommend! Except the water is not even warmmer even by 3pm in the afternoon i enjoy this place so much!! Fun place to build sand castle ?
