★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Set in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere, one could mistake it for a staff lounge in one of those tech companies. Might work too since a coffee and muffin bar is just around the corner.
Staff (Maria) was very professional and got my insurance queries done quickly in a cheerful and polite manner.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'd been with ASB my whole life; one day I just got totally sick of them and decided I was going to put the effort into choosing a new bank then changing over. Some of significant reasons I chose Co-op: 1. They are actually a New Zealand bank, most of the banks out there are Foreign-run. 2. They had all the products I needed like Debit Mastercard (Heartland didn't have this). 3. They are a Co-operative so they actually give money back to their customers each year.
Anyway I've been with Co-op about 3 yrs now and they have been exceptional. No problems, no trying to sell me consumer debt products like ASB did all the time. All-in-all I would highly recommend Co-op bank.

We phoned to enquire about opening a joint account and were told this could only be done at a branch and not online. The representative on the phone identified this branch as our closest branch and I advised this was a 2 hour drive for us. We were told there was no other option but to visit the branch and they would be able to assist.
We made a special trip only to be prevented access to the branch and rudely told we should have made an appointment, that we would not be seen without an appointment and that no appointments were available (despite staff sitting at desks helping nobody).
Truly gobsmacked at this appalling "service" from a bank who claims to set themselves apart with their service. If they believe this poor service to be what sets them apart, then I dread to think what other aspects of their business could be like.
We tried to support local, but once again, the local option is no match to the big aussie alternatives who just do it better.
