★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were really looking forward to our meal and Gin tasting at The Gintrap. Photos on social media and the website looked fantastic. Overall, however, it was all quite disappointing. We ordered starters, pasta and pizza from the Mains dinner menu, a NZ Gin Flight and other drinks.
Pasta came out stodgy and under cooked. Politely told the waitress who responded well and took it back to the kitchen. Waited for a period long enough to cook new pasta, we were presented with the same dish but now with burnt patches from being reheated in a pan. Waitress was wonderful and seemed embarrassed, we were compensated but ended up having to share a pizza so we both went home hungry as the wait time was so long.
Gin flight was also a disappointment. Two of the gins were average for NZ gin. Would have much preferred choosing the three we wanted to taste.
We love gin and really wanted to love the gintrap. Apart from the lovely wait staff the experience was underwhelming and we probably won't return.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great spot in the sun on the deck after work. Staff made sure we were well looked after and didn't go dry!!
Took the family for dinner tonight and I must say we were underwhelmed! The food took an hour before we got our starters and another 20 for the mains. Some of the food was great and some was quite average considering the cost.
Gin was good though.
Need to work a bit on service

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have been going to the Gintrap for a number of years, and it has been our go-to for an easy lunch in the sun. The outdoor space is amazing with great views over the marina. The menu is a little hit and miss and is starting to show its age, not sure if the chef has changed but it is lacking the fresh flavors it used to have with a lot of fried food. The service however is very good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A little expensive, and the view of the harbour is ok. If you're looking for Gin, I'd definitely give it a try, but for a casual drink I'd recommend going to the other bars around.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had a great meal here. Excellent food and service, had the fish of the day - Hapuka, which was delicious. Water was constantly refreshed and prompt drinks service. Was very impressed. When I complimented the waitress to the desk manager on departure, I was told, it was the waitresses first day! ? Hope her service skills are infectious, as getting exceptional food and service at the same time can be rare! Highly recommended!

This place is great. Go in expecting a gastro pub but with gin instead of craft beer. Food was great, gin was better. Had the Duck Leg, Steak Salad and Kids Fish & Chips. All were good, but the kids meal was surprisingly good. Had the New Zealand Flight gin taster which went down a treat. Service was good, staff was friendly and responded well to requests. Overall a great experience.
