★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A nice restaurant on the wharf. Dined here with my husband and parents on a family trip to Napier. Very nice staff moved us to table with view without us asking. Although very busy because of public holiday, and food a little slow they were very quick with drinks and checked on us. Food was good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We dined here last Fri and Sat nights and both nights the food was truly amazing, I had steak and it was cooked to perfection. Sheree worked fantastically well under so much pressure with trying to seat everyone who arrived without bookings, she looked so calm and made everyone who arrived feel at ease in knowing that they would be seated as soon as possible. I commend all the staff who work there as they all kept the place running like a well oiled machine.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cannot fault this place. Atmosphere, food, drink, price and service were second to none. The place was exceptionally busy being one member down apparently but everything was still top notch and we got a great start upstairs right by the balcony to watch the sunset.

Only one staff member who had obvious mask disdain.

We turned up without booking but they kindly looked after us. Pizza were yummy and so were the cocktails.
They were not only very thorough in checking our vaccine passes but also checked a couple of us who looked younger than their real age to ensure that serving them with alcohol was ok.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We tried to book a restaurant on arguably the busiest day of the year, and no one was answering their phone. So we took a punt and tried to walk in somewhere but were turned away by many. That is until we got to the Thirsty Whale. Even though they were bursting at the seams and we had to line up, the owner was amazing. She was so friendly and accommodating and got us a table almost immediately even though it was so chaotic with people trying to get in, many without bookings like us. The staff were great and the service was amazing given how busy it was. We were well attended to and our meals came out in a good time. The meals were top quality and very generous. Well done to you!
