β β β β β Ordered the lamb shanks. Lamb was cold inside, obviously reheated but very poorly as meat inside was still cold/congealed fridge temperature. Vegetables were great. Gravy was tasteless and mashed potatoes were lumpy. No one cleared table even though we stayed enjoying beers after

We ordered the venison casserole and pork ribs, both really good.
The portions of the meals were prefect to make us full.
Friendly staffs, good location, what a lovely place.

β β β β β This restaurant/cafe/bar is full of character and genuinely friendly staff. It's not called the Hard Antler for nothing...they have an outstanding display of antlers. I highly recommend the savoury scones. Probably busy at night as not much else in little Haast. Pool tables and duke box would be sure to help make your own fun. Good menu & excellent selection of wines etc. I loved the tables made from slabs & trunks of large trees nicely made. It was very busy when we were there at 11am (I take photos when people move out of the way to respect their privacy). The BIG breakfast looked pretty good!

β β β β β None of the staff wear covid masks which was a bit scary and one of the cooks was bragging of no vaccinations.
Good food and good beer - food portions are humongous and very tasty.
In the middle of nowhere - how do they do it?

β β β β β The foods and atmosphere there is great. Had the seafood platers and it was good, the seafood used was fresh. Also have the venison burger and nacho. Servings was very generous. ?

β β β β β Booked in for dinner , had a drink . I had a sea food basket, my wife had a Crispy Salmon .
Both were cooked to perfection. Very large meals so yes, doggy bags please. Loads table's outside and in . Dog friendly must be on a leash . Heaps of character throughout and clean toilets . The wait for our meal i thought a bit to long . But all-in -all was great.
