About The Helm Bar & Kitchen
From the day a Waikato baby is born until they become an adult, they are a Waikid.
Waikids is the brand that integrates all child and youth health services provided by Waikato District Health Board, whether they are provided in hospital, clinics, in the community or in people’s homes.
A more integrated approach is helpful to families using our services. It helps avoid duplication and coordinates the care of a child and family.
All Waikato DHB's Waikids services are committed to
- raising awareness about health issues
- caring for children with health issues and their families
- keeping children healthy.
If you use our services, you may see the Waikids brand used in our programmes, our forms or publications, and even in the names of our paediatric (child health) wards and clinics.
It is there because we care about the health of pēpi, tamariki and rangatahi - babies, children and youth, and want to work with them and their families for better health.

Took a long time to get served even though it wasn’t very busy, the Caesar salad had very little dressing and was pretty much just lettuce (for $21) and nobody came back to check on this which meant we had to flag somebody down to tell them this, which took a while. They did take it off the bill for us which is appreciated but it’s a shame they had to as the space they have is lovely and the beer was good

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tried to reserve a table, they didn't pick up the phone nor return my call so just turned up. The waitress was not friendly and looked like she hated her job. A couple of much friendlier waitresses came on shift later. Chips weren't cooked but pizza was very delicious. When advised staff this they told me one balanced out the other.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We arrived about 6.45pm, and not realizing the outside seating was for smokers, we asked to be moved inside. No problems mate. Thanks heaps. Was not crowded, right amount of ambience to relax in. Not a fan of the magarita I ordered, frozen is my preferred option, so one instead of the usual 4 or 5 kept more bucks in my pocket. Otherwise our meal was served hot, very appealing to the eye and except for the salad and some chips left on my plate, everyone enjoyed their dinner. Thanks Helm

Ordered the mix platter which was decent for 3 people. Good mix of meats, sauces. One of the best platters I’ve had.
Staff were attentive and friendly. Checking if we needed more drinks etc.
