★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is only the second review I have written on google so you know it counts! Todays visit to the local Hospice opp shop was nothing less than disgraceful. Highly recommend driving further down Gt North Rd to Red Cross and St John to find cheaper second hand goods. The treatment I received whilst shopping with two children 3 & 2 was so inconsiderate. We walked in and straight away my boys ran to this huge industrial fan sitting on the shop floor. Straight away I warned them both of the danger it will have on their little fingers if they were to touch it. They understood and continued to be playful letting the air flow whisk through their bodies. I tugged my 2 year old approx. 7 steps away to speak with my grandmother also shopping before I heard ‘who does this boy in the blue t.shirt belong to’? I turned around and replied ‘me, what’s up’? A worker, older lady with a stripe T.shirt and short hair said that I need to watch him because she doesn’t want the responsibiltity if he gets hurt. ‘I’ve told him a few times now about the fan, so he knows the danger and I know he is my responsibility’ was my response. I continued to look around the shop now holding both childrens hands. As if this wasn’t unpleasant enough for my kids and I, I could see the shop lady gossiping about me behind the counter with her colleagues. Real professional! My suggestions for Hospice would be to take health and safety into consideration by avoiding putting the industrial fan on the shop floor. 1 fan blowing 1% of your shop isn’t going to chase the heat away. Perhaps if you no longer want to be a family friendly shop that I was previously under the impression of, then put some signs up! And lastly better staff training on customer service. Regardless if they are volunteers or not they should show respect and consideration to all customers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very bright and well presented shop - goods are well displayed - its easy to find what you are looking for and also be tempted with other things you might find useful. Staff are pleasant and always ready to assist when asked. Keep up the good work - it is a very worthwhile cause and I have and will continue to support with goods from time to time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely bright colourful store with some wonderful products. Strange though how Hospice, I’m told due to H&S regulations, is able to accept a crusty sponge mattress which “appears” clean on outside due to disguising cover but not a slightly tea stained mint-condition duvet that has just been washed. The irony of it all.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ So annoying. The young Indian lady was trying to charge me the adults price for kids clothing they had in the kids bins. Aged 12 years!!! She knew clearly they were kids clothing but still refused to sell it to me for kids price even though they had so much kids clothing in that area from sizes newborn to 14years!! What made it worse was that she was sooooo extremely rude about it. I came back the next week and had no problems at all with purchasing the same items from another lovely young lady for kids prices with no problems at all. Please train your staff a bit better so you don't leave your customers feeling embarrassed and angry.
