So 3 days after I feel the need to review this place . On entering the regent for dinner for four ,the first thing that strikes is the black and White theme that is quirky but seems dated, the tables with white cloth and immaculate table setting sets you up for excellence. Sadly not completely the case. We sat at our table and our waitress approached . No introduction of her self so I asked her name, it's just a basic service politeness to let the people who you are looking after know your name ,especially with the reputation of the regent room. As we had decided the wine before we sat ,we asked for the wine we wanted only to be looked at blankly on our selection, as our previously un named server had know idea about the wine let alone the menu. The gewurztraminer. We choose was in a nice way over it's use by date as this wine is only drinkable for up to 4 years ,and was dated 2016 so was bottled in 2015 so not a great start. Upon ordering the lack of menu knowledge was apparent ! with the absence of our server to ask why certain accompaniments were on the plate. Entree was well done but the octopus looked like it was drowning in a sea of lettuce and just looked 80s. And then there was the mains 3 duck and one beef all blah the but of note was the need for a chainsaw to cut the beef and horse chompers to chew it ! the flavor was good but presentation naff, not mention the un trained staff server trying and failing to silver serve with fork and spoon our complimentary bread ,are we in the 80s give her some silver tongs! At the end sufficient dessert was ordered but my cheese board with it's selection of three cheese was lack luster! the cheese was fridge cold and hard not keept at room temperature it's weird eating blue and brie that's as hard as cheddar Is summary $417 was spent for for old wine, lackluster I'll prepared food and substandard service is about it. I feel that they are punching above there class and trying to hard wasn't worth the money spent .

Very suprised and a highly disappointing experience as we were expecting a high end evening. Service was slow, finished plates left on the table for too long and the food was unfortunately very average. We had a table of 7, and all of us agreed on the disappointing food. All the meat was tough and over cooked, vegan dish was tasteless. No unique or exquisite flavours. Stuff you'd expect in a tearoom. Sorry management, but you need to look again at what the chefs are up to. A lack of passion I'd expect.

Went here for dinner with some friends. The drinks, starters and desserts were impeccable. For the mains, the pork was slightly tough but the chicken and fish were delightful - well portioned and the flavors complemented each other perfectly. Shout out to Gretchen for her fantastic service and an all around lovely meal.

The staff were super helpful to have re-arranged our reservation. We had to shorten our degustation time due to tight travelling schedules and they were very understanding. Food was delicious and I love their vegetarian option. Each dish was thoughtfully crafted and we thoroughly enjoy our dining experience ---until the main and dessert. Would be nicer if ravioli could be kept in a smaller size instead of 5 x 2 inches slab, and more variety of petite details would take off the heaviness of a big dessert. Perhaps a matter of balancing quality vs quantity?

We came here as we thought it was going to be high end food, unfortunately it looked the part but the food was far from high end, the veges were not blanched they were pretty much raw, the gravy tasted like packet gravy, first time ever I have left half the Meal on my plate, complained to the 1st waitress and she said I hope the wine makes it better (wth), I’m so happy we used a bookme voucher because I would NEVER pay the high end prices for low end food. As I said soooo extremely disappointed, sadly the second bad experience here, we will not be back

Have had dinner twice here. I consider this to be the stand out eating venue in Rotorua. The Black & White theme and presentation is excellent. The reception and table service given by (Aria?) Very professional. The food was most enjoyable. Making both the venue and food definitly a 5 star value for money.
