★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Located about 2km on the south side of Paihia above the Te Huami River. Great views of the bay and islands. It’s a nice spot to stay but is aging compared to a lot of the newer places. It is quiet and has access to some lovely walks including the Piahia to Oaumi walk.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My aunt was visiting from the U.S. and we stayed at The Retreat during our travels to the Bay of Islands and Far North. You can never be sure when booking online and hope the accommodation is good as it looks on the website and we weren't let down. Great view, spacious room and clean and quality linen/sheets. Kanishak the manager has fabulous customer service, nothing ever a bother, always greeted us with a smile and was very helpful and easy going. We enjoyed it so much we extended our stay an extra night. Only 5 mins drive into main Paihia and much nicer than staying in the main hub Paihia. Will definitely stay there again for future visits.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent service! Highly recommend staying her for the five star service and friendliness, the cleanliness and the views. Every apartment here has formidable views of Paihia and some even have glimpses of other islands as well.
So happy to have met Sascha the owner of this retreat, and be spoilt to real kiwi hospitality.
Needless to say, the sea views, the free wi-fi, the five star service will keep myself and my whanau (family) continually coming back. Come here first, before you go anywhere else. Even though the apartment is a little dated, the attention to detail, the cleanliness makes up for this.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hi Sasha and kanishak! Thank you so much for being the most amazing hosts! The hospitality, the place, the view and everything you have provided during our stay was beyond what we expected. We cant wait to return and stay at yours again! A bit about the place -PROS - very clean and well maintained - it has everything you need ( utensils, toaster, oven, heater etc even a cheese grater :D ) - it has its own deck! and the view from it during the night ( so many stars) or during the day is spectacular - you will be dealing with the most friendliest and approachable hosts ever! - its a home away from home ! - very private and you will definitely get some peace and quiet - Its well worth what you paid for!! - many little touches that is much appreciated! ( lots of coffee, tea and sugars etc for heavy drinkers like us :P) - check in and check out was an easy process and so much MORE! NO CONS!

The balcony views from the rooms are stunning.
Quiet and peaceful - definitely a "Retreat".
We'd come again!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We absolutely enjoyed our stay at the retreat. Lovely owner she was very helpful. Room was gorgeous clean and tidy. Bed was comfortable loved the outdoor area and so private. We will definitely be staying here again. We stayed in the studio and would prefer to stay in the studio again had a huge deck and amazing seaview.
