★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We used to enjoy this place so much there was a lovely girl running the place and she always took time to ensure everyone was happy, we so loved seeing her there managing her team. It seems she has now left and the staff are left with no guidance, one was sitting on the bar stool on her phone and the other was behind the bar on her phone ! No one was there until we arrived. The menu has changed quite a lot possibly a new cook or chef ? The staff took a long time to serve us we ordered the steak it was cooked okay the chips have always been great the salad perhaps a little over dressed other than that we enjoyed our meal. The coffee was burnt. We will try again another time.

2 stars for service and 1 Star for food. The fish was off and the staff were not helpful. Advised fish was not fresh have heard rumours about this place I think they were true. Won’t b bak

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food was incredible. More like what I would expect at some expensive Auckland restaurant, but this wasn't expensive. The service was friendly and relaxed and the atmosphere casual yet interesting. Our meals appeared very quickly, and apart from being outstanding texture and flavour, but satisfying portion sizes, attractive and hot. Great dining experience. Highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Royal is now owned by Crossroads, lovely service with fabulous food. I tried the Prawn Fettuccine and it was absolutely fabulous. Thank you for a beautiful lunch ☺️
