โ โ โ โ โ I haven't yet visited their brick and mortar shop but I have made a number of purchases through their website and my experience thus far has been excellent. They stock many top brand items that you won't find with the bigger NZ stores and their delivery is speedy. Top Gear is my first stop for new outdoor gear. Highly recommended. 5/5

โ โ โ โ โ Without doubt the worst service I have encountered on Trade Me.
I can look past the fact that Auckland was in lockdown, and that their courier lost my package, but the lack of responsiveness is inexcusable.
Order wasn't shipped for over a week, nobody checking or responding to emails querying an estimated eta. Even after it became clear the courier had lost my package and confirmed they will cover the loss, no sign of my knife or a plan to resolve the situation.
0/10 avoid at all costs.

โ โ โ โ โ I have purchased a couple of knives from Top Gear. One was a Svord Peasant and the other was a Victory drop point hunting knife with a blue plastic sheath. Both knives are very good. On both occasions the service was excellent and prompt. Shipping was quick. The prices were very competitive. I would have no hesitation to use or recommend Top Gear. Update August 2021. I really like Svord Peasant knives so I ordered a couple more from Top Gear. They arrived quickly. They take a good edge, have a sturdy design, and they work well. They also don't have the scary 'tactical' appearance that many modern knives have. These are utility tools that I feel I can take anywhere. I am a hunter and outdoors enthusiast and I've used my Peasants for all sorts of things. I get a good edge on them with sharpening stones, fine sandpaper, the unglazed rim under a crockery plate or mug.... or even a sharpening steel, although some folks say this is not recommended. Works for me. If you can see the picture I've tried to attach you may notice that on the older knife I've ground the back of the blade to create a sharper point. I've also cut off the excess at the lower end of the handle.

First and last order, nor do I recommened you order from here

Just the poorest customer service ever. Never answer the phone. Takes a week to reply to emails saying "we'll look into it".... Then nothing for days on end.
If I hadn't received half the order, I would have reported it as a scam site and checked in with bank. Where the other half of my order is? Who knows... Top Gear certainly aren't telling me......

โ โ โ โ โ Brought item online, over a week and a half lapsed and then received emails that they had 1. Oversold the product. 2. Forgot my order was in the system. 3. Stated it would be another couple of days possibly a week until item arrived in shop. Was my own fault partially as I didn't read reviews online prior to purchase nor chase them up after the typical 5 days, but I had presumed that was due to Auckland shipping issues which are currently present. Refund made immediately which was good and email communication was prompt, hence not 1 star. Wouldn't recommend though, next time read reviews prior to purchasing.

โ โ โ โ โ I don't give reviews easily but I just had to for this business. I've yet to visit their shop but I've ordered numerous items from them through their website throughout 2021 and the quality of their products and their service has been excellent. They sell many of the same items as the bigger stores, but often at cheaper prices, and you can also find items that the bigger stores don't sell at all. Top Gear is always the first place I go to when looking to purchase certain items. I can only speak from my experience and so far it's been really good.
