Flew from Christchurch to Auckland for a girls weekend away. Check in time was 2pm but we had taken the first flight so arrived way before 2pm. The reception staff was happy to store our bags locked away till we would check in. They also upgraded both the rooms. We had 2 rooms with balconies both overlooking Hobson st. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. N the best thing was that the staff were so nice and friendly.

We stayed two nights. Paid for parking. Carpark is full of rubbish and they sold our car park to another guest so we came back and had no where to park. Took an hour to get a new spot. Room was terribly small. black mold is creeping up the curtains. There were no towels on arrival only to be told they'd run out. Was dilevered some a short while later. The elevator buttons are broken and have wires exsposed. The hallways reek of some ungodly smells . And there are either fleas or bedbugs as both my partner and I are covered in bites. Will never stay here again

Very accommodating staff, happy to go the extra mile to sort my stay out. Front desk staff were extremely friendly and made sure I had everything for my stay. Really appreciate it ?

Terrible! Dirty dishes with caked on food, no toaster, no dish cloth, just really tired and uncared for. Marks and holes on the walls, dirty floors. It's such a shame because the layout and size of the room is really good, it just hasn't been maintained. Very poor standard. Not for me.

We have stayed with VR Auckland in the past and really enjoyed our stay. I was booked again for this weekend but unfortunately had to cancel (thanks Covid!). The staff were really understanding and accommodating. I know Covid has been really tough on the tourism and services industries, so just wanted to give a big shout out and thank you to VR, and I hope to be able to rebook my visit soon! ?

Me partner and I booked through booking.com where the reviews set the high expectation of 5 star hotel which unfortunately was far from the truth. The hotel itself as soon as you walk in has a old stale dusty odour which worsened the closer you get to the lifts that take you to your floor. The rooms look absolutely different to what was advertised it was old and run down. There was mold covered soap holder in the shower our room was not cleaned for 2 days even though we had put the “service our room” card up on the door prior. Then when we had addressed this matter we were told there was no room cleaning service due to covid which wasn’t brought to our attention during our stay so we had to ask for clean towels. I also got bed bug bites after having gone to the doctors once we had returned to Australia from our stay at VR. I’d say to anyone going to book to do your research thoroughly before booking here as the experience in general was horrible for catfished by a dirty hotel ?

Check in was great, super easy, great location, very friendly and helpful- lovely accommodating staff, highly recommended staying here. Stayed five nights, great price for central city. Will definitely stay again. No negatives.

We got a good rate on a week's stay at VR Auckland City. The 2 bedroom unit on the second floor was a good size for a hotel suite, and was well equipped with a comfortable queen bed, good single bed in a separate room, full bathroom with washer and dryer, living room area, quality TV and kitchenette. We appreciated the provided WIFI vouchers and also had a decent sized balcony to take in some fresh air. The staff were really helpful throughout our stay, both on the front desk and in housekeeping. While handy to the CBD, some parts of Hobson St nearby are a little downtrodden but never dangerous during our stay. A few items of furniture were showing their age. Overall, good value and we would stay here again when in the area.
