β β β β β As essentially a walk-in place, I can accept waiting in line for an hour or an hour and a half - that would be fine and reasonable. What I can not excuse is the three and a half hour wait I had the other day. The line barely moved, until it was approaching 5pm and the staff were clearly wanting to leave so hurried to get through the remaining cars in the queue. My car didn't pass its WoF, which is unfortunate, but also not VTNZ's fault - but it really did make the whole afternoon seem like a waste of time.
Also, the sign in the car park tells everyone to go to reception immediately upon arrival. But, when I go in I get told to return to my car and wait until I am at the front of the queue and then go in. The staff were friendly about it, but this makes the sign very confusing. To make it even more confusing, the staff member performing my warrant seemed surprised I hadn't already gone inside to pay? Not really sure what was going on there.
I put the rating higher than one star because the staff I interacted with were at least friendly/professional.

β β β β β My partner took her Nissan Murano to VTNZ Jipcho Road about 10 months ago. She left there with a failed warrant due to a front steering rack leak which would supposedly need to be fixed. Being on low income (and told this would be approximately $500 to fix) she saved a good nine months to get her vehicle fixed.
When she booked it in to be fixed, the mechanic advised her the leak was minimal.
He presented a copy of the warrant guidelines and highlighted a section where it says a warrant cannot be failed unless the leak is a sustained large leak in the steering rack. So for nine months she had an unregistered, unwarranted vehicle due to the incompetency of βNZβs leadingβ testing agency. Upon retesting at VTNZ Rangiora the vehicle subsequently passed without further incident. In addition to having a vehicle she couldnβt use legally she also had to pay for the warrant twice to get the desired result. Pretty Average really.

β β β β β This feedback is for the guy attending the front office not for the inspectors.
Terrible service received ever.
I was shouted at to get out their office just because of I didnβt stop at the stop sign set up outside, as I wished to grab some forms to filled out first.
Do not come to this place if you have another choice, which there are plenty.
I only came to try as you open till 1pm on a Saturday.
Rude and unprofessional staff.
Will not review my comment.

β β β β β Went to one BY VTNZ and the guy was extremely rude( Lichfield st) so went to the other one in sockburn and the people are extremely nice but way way to slow. Between the two places it took 5 hours of my day.i could see Only two or three mechanics which is why it took so long. Very annoying my whole day gone as I have to work tonight.

β β β β β Went for WOF, arrived at 3:45pm queuing. Waited till 4:50pm, 1st of queue and was informed cannot get it done today as they are closing at 5pm. Bad luck. But on second thought, this is a low level problem, this can be solved or improved multiple ways. This just shows they don't care. I feel bad for the staff to go to each car to turn us away, although he was apologetic.

β β β β β I really appreciate your services that's reason I'm failed 10 times in the driving test even though I possess a car for the 2 months & 10 hours training from a driving school.. never seen by the police not driving as per rules. There may be my mistakes. Thanks to vtnz for the time being not providing me Restricted Licence.

β β β β β Just had a WOF inspection today at the Jipcho VTNZ. The car failed for some quite pedantic things. I'm a mechanic by trade so know what is fair and not. Driving away I was quite salty about it but started working through the list as soon as I got home so I can tick this job off. Reflecting on it as I go through the list and fixing things actually, they weren't wrong. Every item was most definitely there for many previous WOF inspections and I was always stoked when the car passed and never got around to fixing them.
The whole team treated me kindly, with all the new COVID stuff I felt safe and they managed foot traffic well through their business. The young bloke giving me the bad news obviously did a thorough check of the car and debriefed me well on what needed attention immediately and in the future. So thank you for a thorough check over.
I'd give them 5 stars but the wait was nearly 2.5 hours which felt ridiculous as I was only about 7 cars back. I've been there before when the queue was on the road and it didn't take that long.

β β β β β Absolutely rude - the person in front of me was foreign and obviously didn't fill out a question properly on a form. The lady that served him was so rude and almost mocking him for not reading the questions properly. How about being respectful and helping them through the form rather than making him feel vulnerable? Just because you are government agency does not give you any more power than anyone else. So rude and despicable, get some manners and customer service. However, the lady that served me was very friendly.
