★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Should have known when all the vines were dead bit this place is horrible. Both red wines were on the verge of vinegar. The rose was super harsh. Definitely avoid

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wish we had seen the reviews before we came here. The villa is beautiful, and if you were with a big group and could sit outside it would be fine. It was just my partner and I, no one else was there. We thought it was expensive for a tasting and they give give you an a4 sheet explaining the wines. Don't come here for the experience. In a big group, sitting out side it would be fine.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Spent the weekend wine tasting around the region. Initial reaction of a few of us in the group was that the beautiful homestead had an odd smell. The tastings were pricey and came only with an A4 sheet to explain the wines, so not much of an experience.
Wouldn't come back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were greeted by Jimmy and his wife, service was excellent and we had the place to ourselves as it's mid-week and winter.
The wine tasting was good, the Rose was interesting and I grabbed a bottle of the pinot noir to take home. Would have been nice to have had a white wine included in the tasting... But...we were happy based on the fact that they were originally set up to make reds.
Our experience was greatly improved by out interactions with the owner Jimmy and his love for Nz and its people.
Don't expect anything too fancy, but it's stunning, the owners are friendly and provide great service, and the homestead is beautiful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Myself & wife frequently visit Vynfields whenever we are in the Wairarpa. Love the outdoor area for a lovely glass or 2. Have always had a great experience there with friendly & excellent hosts. Would highly recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ OK wine, beautiful setting with a lovely home. But, very expensive wine tasting experience at $5 per small tasting glass. So, with 5 tasting glasses, that's $25 per person.
What prevents me from providing a better review is the complete lack of service. The tasting glasses are provided with a plastic laminated A4 sheet with a small printed brief note about each wine. This is such a stark difference to the service offered by other nearby vineyards who offer tastings for a very reasonable fee, usually provided free if wine is purchased. At every other place we've tasted in Martinborough, staff and owners were happy to talk about their wines. The impersonal service here was a disappointment.
Just down the road is Poppies, Moy Hall, Schubert, Luna and Ata Rangi. I'd avoid coming to Vynfields again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just had to share this review here - I cannot fathom how this could receive anything less than a 5. Anything lower than a 4 is undeserved. It's quiet, peaceful and homely. My friend and i were welcomed with open arms and seated under a shady tree where we were able to share a totally reasonably priced tasting flight followed by a glass of our favourite. As an 'off the beaten path' place, it's been absolutely spot on. Quiet enough, with a few other groups enjoying their time here.
I could not recommend this place any higher - disregard the other reviews and give it a chance. It won't let you down.
