COVID-19 Information:

Allied health services including Osteopaths remain open at all traffic-light levels and all phases. Phase 3 is designed to help the health system handle an Omicron outbreak of several thousand new cases a day, which is what NZ is currently experiencing.

Osteopaths are registered health professionals under the HPCA Act, and as such are classified as a Critical Service. Osteopaths can play a role in taking pressure off the health system by assessing and treating musculoskeletal pain and injury.

Wairarapa Osteopathy is registered under the Close Contact Critical Services Register, which means that if a member of our team is identified as a close-contact but remains asymptomatic, we are able to ‘test-to-work’ by performing a Rapid Antigen Test each morning. If the RAT test is negative and we have no symptoms, practitioners and staff are able to work, while continuing to follow our infection-control protocols.

Wairarapa Osteopathy utilises a multi-layered approach to reducing viral transmission risk by;

• Screening
• Masks for both patients and practitioners
• Sanitising: patients sanitise on arrival, practitioners sanitise their hands between appointments, and also surfaces including the treatment table with Viraclean between every appointment
• Ventilation: windows and doors are open when and where practicable
• HEPA Air purifiers are used in treatment rooms
• Practitioners and staff are fully vaccinated

At Wairarapa Osteopathy we are passionate about helping people rediscover their optimal health potential through improving the alignment and function of the musculo-skeletal system.

Our Osteopaths are highly trained health professionals who have each completed a 5 year university degree. They are ACC registered and can initiate new ACC claims. All of our osteopaths are registered with the Osteopathic Council of New Zealand (OCNZ) which operates under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (HPCA Act).

Osteopaths act like detectives, taking a detailed case-history and examining the body as a whole to understand the patterns of misalignment, muscular imbalance and joint restriction that have led to the problem. Treatment consists of hands-on techniques which encourage muscles, joints and connective tissue to release tension restoring the body to a state of balance and alignment.
