★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a lovely airport with friendly, very helpful staff ,the design of the building is really unique and there's a branch of the Little Goose Eatery where one can have coffee and something to eat.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you're an aviator NZWK (Whakatane Airfield) is a great airfield to visit.
As at writing this post landing fees for GA (general aviation) was zero - you don't hear this very often!
Looked like there were two fuel bowsers too.
We flew in Saturday lunchtime and was surprised to see the cafe area closed, even though an Air Chathams flight was due in within 20 minutes.
Great little airport in a beautiful part of the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Considering the national carrier pulled out of here a few years back,it's amazing the support Air Chatham gets for a smaller carrier.
It still travels to Auckland not to sure,if once or twice a week.
It's architecture is as zany from the inside to the outside.
Has that"won't forget me charm".
Has basic amenities,and a cafe.Would be cool if they would get free Wi-Fi, when waiting for your flight or picking people up.
Best thing is no in your face security,that's rural for you.
