★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just amazing. I’m not even a beginner cyclist but I could make my way to the summit and enjoy the wonderful view.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An excellent gateway into the Akatarawa ranges, especially the back side of the Karapoti Classic race course.
The ride (or walk) up will take about 40 minutes (on a mountain bike)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not sure what the other reviewers are talking about in regard to mtb trails as the actual marked trails on the map are quite disappointing. Especially the "advanced" decent. Which is nothing but an overgrown 4wd track down the side of the hill! The beginner climb is good and has a good mix of climbing to resting sections with some reasonable views along the way.
The gates that must be opened and closed are actually quite dangerous and have a high risk of slipping through and seriously injuring a leg/foot if not careful!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely little local mtb park. Great signage on entry (with printed maps!) as well as throughout the park. Setup as a nice little 30-45min loop from base. Don’t get caught out by the downhill track as it is just a grassy run to bottom and waste of altitude. The other two are well maintained albeit a bit funnily designed in location. Like some sharp flat turns onto some bridges.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great lookout with easy access and gorgeous views over Kapiti Coast and Kapiti Island. The forest loop track has lots of info boards which help to keep kids entertained while discovering the forest birds and insects.
Upd. What I really like about this reserve is that every path is so different. There are heaps of hidden gems like giant totara or kid-size bench, weta boxes in the bush and cool look-outs. Hit the track and enjoy!
