β β β β β Nice area. Conveniently close to SH1 so there's a distant hum of traffic but, not bad at all. Arrived in heavy rain and was a bit concerned about parking on grassed areas. Realised the next day that there were a few gravelled areas hidden by fallen leaves. Think this would be a lovely place in warmer weather as there's easy access to the Waihi river.

β β β β β Nice place to stop overnight when on tour. We were driving a bit late into the evening and found this spot. Place has grassy fields to put up a tent or camp and is close to main road to get quickly get back on the road the next morning. Has basic facilities like toilet and water supply.

β β β β β Having that permanent guy right in the middle of the site with his washing hanging everywhere and right beside the rubbish bins does not make for a very nice stay.

β β β β β Seems to be someone grumpy who lives here in a scruffy looking caravan for most of the year. Didn't feel safe with him around. Would be a nice spot if this human would leave.
Also very easy to get stuck if wet. Don't go off the gravel in a 2 wheel drive caravan.
Update: Scruffy Caravan guy has left. Really nice spot now
