β β β β β Every time you go there, they provide you with different stylists which you can't see that person's name on their website. I was their customer for three years. Here is my last and terible experience:
My appointment was at 12:15 pm (originally was 12:45, and they changed it a day before), and I was there exactly on time. Then she asked me to show my vaccine pass, and it took 10 min I logged in to my account and downloaded it again (for some reason, it was not on my desktop), and I showed them. Kaiya (stylist) took advantage of that and asked if she could change my appointment to the following Monday because she is 45 minutes behind her schedule, while when I booked my appointment two weeks before, I told her I want to dye my hair for my anniversary.
They are telling me they turned me away because I was not prepared for the new Covid-19 traffic light system!! That's an excuse!
Anyway here is two reasons you can judge:
1-The appointment was from 12:15 pm to 2:30 pm for creative colour, cut and blow wave for very long hair!! Even if I could show my vaccine pass immediately after I arrived, it was impossible to do all these things together. Just for information, I consulted with two other salons, and they estimated my hair needs at least 3.15 -4 hours, not 2 hours! You don't want to have rush or stress when you are going to spend at least $300.
2-How many times do you go for a haircut, and they start immediately? Normally you need to wait 10-15 min. So I don't believe their excuse.
As an owner of a business, you need to be flexible, patient, responsible and understanding. They ruin my anniversary day anyway! Zibatsu could simply call me/send a message in advance to ask getting my vaccine pass ready. Especially that day was the first day of the new rule. However, the manager called me and tried to explain the situation, but unfortunately, I never went back there and don't recommend their service.

β β β β β I am absolutely delighted with hair cut from stylist Jess de Beer today. After a year my hair was way down my back and difficult to look after and on impulse I called up to ask if anyone could fit me in, 15 minutes later I had a fab cup of coffee, cheese crackers and olives as a refreshment and the pleasure of a very relaxing head massage and an excellent hair cut. Jess was very professional as have all the other stylists who have cut my hair at Zaibatsu over the past 5 years. Very spacious salon with views overlooking St Clair Beach - a highly recommended experience thank you team Zaibatsu

β β β β β I would warn anyone against Zaibatsu. At my last appointment my hair was chemically burned off from incorrect mixing of the hair-dye. Now, 6 months later it has grown back just enough to cover the bald patch. The owner, Kris was extremely rude and refused to acknowledge the error on their end and wouldn't even refund the appointment saying they 'don't know if it was their fault.' Multiple members of their team tried to tell me it was alopecia even after my GP confirmed twice that it was not, and I could see the hairs trying to grow back. Only after having to seek legal advice and writing a letter of demand was the cost of my appointment refunded. Awful experience. Wouldn't wish it on anyone. It'll take years to get my hair back to normal after the damage they've caused, and they didn't even show any remorse about it. In fact, still being unprofessional and denying it to this day... as shown in her review response.

β β β β β This has to be the most professional, beautiful, friendly amazing salon in Dunedin which is down to the owner, Kris. She is one of a kind. Sheβs a beautiful person - inside and out. She always fits me in and Iβve had lovely hairdos with a couple of different stylists. Jess & Melissa are so clever and talented.
Love their beautiful 100% organic products (Oway) that are so, so kind and gentle to your hair. Never had any kind of damage and Iβve had a few different colours & treatments through. They make your hair feel divine!!
Highly recommend Zaibatsu for a hair experience. Cos it isnβt just a haircut you get when you walk through their doors!! ??? Walk out feeling amazing.
