Advanced Computers Ltd was established in 1998 and currently has two branches, one in Rosedale on the North Shore and our newest branch in Penrose, Central Auckland. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I provided them my laptop when a cup of water was accidentally tipped on my laptop. I was charged $650 (including my inspection fee). After 10 days my laptop display is not working. I submitted to them and it's been one week I don't get any response from them. They were open in the level 3, that was a blessing. But now I am shooting in the dark. They replaced my battery during first repair. The screen had no issue at the time of first submission. I am not blaming them but when they quoted me the price of $650 I shouldn't have taken it. They provided me a back up laptop which was the slowest laptop I have ever seen in my life. I am unhappy with the service I am receiving.
Follow up :
They repaired my laptop but the display gone blank again and I bought an another laptop.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have an older Mac and was feeling quite perplexed about the potential cost of reviving an old Mac. I went to Advanced Computers and they showed a real empathy to my concerns.
I first talked to Karen over the phone who made me feel comfortable about getting the machine assessed. When I got to their premises David greeted me on a very personal level, even actually listening to my response when asked how my day was going. After the machine had been assessed David was very clear about my options and made me feel confident that the choice I was making was the correct one.
I received the computer back in a very reasonable time frame and at a reasonable cost. A few days later David took the time to follow up on how the machine was working and signed off with a comment regarding my response about the day I was having when I first met him. Perhaps this all sounds corny but to be treated with a bit of care and compassion is so rare these days.
In short, I was very impressed with the service and care I received from the team at Advanced Computers.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome company with awesome people and great services! They keep their promises and complete the repair as promised withing the time frame. The initial inspection fee will be deducted from the repair cost. Fast turn around services also available and an expected and increased costs. Reliable and professional, can be totally trusted to get the job done. Don't go to those one man bands operate from residential houses or in the middle of the shopping mall Isle. I had a 10yrs old Laptop where by the hard drive has failed. It is now working and with latest OS installed too. Parking spaces in front and handy location to visit. Give them a call with your PC laptop problems and more. Thank you.

They charged me $90 for service just to see what is wrong with my macbook's screen and they refused to give me an estimate price as I asked many times leaving me with no choice to just trust them and follow through with it. The whole process of the discussion (consultation) was very rushed. After a day or 2 they emailed me the quote price, not mentioning that I had a choice to not go with it. I was not happy with the final price as there were other places that offered a much cheaper service so I said no to their offer and collected my laptop which I noticed the screen looking even worse than when I had dropped it off. A total waste of my time, I do not recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I asked these guys to clean my old 6D camera and lens, they asked $60 for each unit and I paid $120 in total for body and lens. They did indicate the $120 is a minimum charge and if anything major are discovered, they will provide additional cost.
The front desk had a look on my camera body and lens and made no comments on pricing, therefore I left my camera and lens in the shop.
Two days after, I have recieved a quote to clean my camera body and lens in $710 and I was shocked and pretty upset about it.
The reception staff are fully aware about the condition when I show them my camera and there was no headsup or indicational cost, they just simply took the $120 and ask me to wait. I do understand, there might be a cost increase due to the camera condition, but I am not expecting for a $700 differences!
A preowned 6D plus lens cost around $800-$1000, and these guys want to charge me $710 to clean it, that just didn't make any sense.
I wish I can get my money back because it is just a pure waste from my end.
I do understand it take some time and process to evaluate and provide quote but this process should really be free, I might be naive on this, but in other industry, if you ask someone to quote for you and they are asking for payment, they will lose all the jobs!
In the last, I hope the business owner to refund my $120 and advice for you guys: ask for pricing before you made any payment!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had an older camera that wasn't focussing properly. We were unsure if it was worth getting repaired or not. The team at Advanced Computers looked at it and gave a really good assessment of its condition and then did a professional job of repairing it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A while ago I had issues with my external hard drive. I had very important content on this drive. The guy at reception was very professional when I called and asked for a quote.
I took the broken drive in together with a new one. I met David at reception, who were very helpful and understanding of the importance of the data I needed to retrieve. Not long after I left I got an email update with the final quote and it was good news. They were able to retrieve the data. The service was great, quick and I am very happy. Advanced Computers has also helped me in the past with my mac so I am a happy return customer. I can recommend them for any computer repairs.
Thanks again to David at reception who made the whole experience less stressful.
