★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I picked up the car at the office at 9AM on last Sunday but experienced with the unfriendly, no service mind male staff at the counter. After we got in to the car, we noticed that the seatbelt at the back seat didn't work just before we drove out. Then the female staff was still care enough and changed the new car for us, but didn't talk anything, just gave me the key and disappeared. My first time worse car rental experience in NZ!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have had a number of mixed experiences with rental car companies in the past and have a tried a few when I have been travelling for business. I thought I would give Apex a go as the rates were pretty good and they are close to the airport.
I booked by phone with Grant who was friendly and helpful and gave me a good deal during the week I was in town. As I decided to stay on for the weekend (which I paid for after the work hire ran out) he gave me the same good rate .
The car was clean and reasonably new which was great, the staff picked me up from the Airport though I could have probably walked but it was nice not having to drag the bags around.
When I got there the staff got me going pretty quick and even gave me some tips of where to go in my weekend off.
Thanks Apex. I will be using you again next time I am in town.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Charged $250 cleaning fee for smoking in the car when I’m not even a smoker. Didn’t send the bill through until 3 days after we left the car at some garage away from the airport. Was fine and even cleaned it before we left the car. Wasn’t us, but didn’t care, just wanted the money. Ridiculous. Would never use again

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Used Welly Airport branch a half dozen times now. Always uber fast and efficient. Never any delays with airport transfers. Great service. Weirdly wouldn't allow me to pay with business credit card for security reasons, despite wearing work uniform and all my luggage with work labels. I still give them 5 stars though for speed and efficiency. Keep up the awesome work.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Arrived after a flight and was going through the paperwork with the lady at the counter when I saw the line $2000 fee payable in an accident regardless of fault with insurance I asked for clarification on this by using an example of someone in a car talking on a cellphone going up the back of me would I still have to pay this and she said yes - I said what about when they admit fault and you claim through their insurance do I get my money back and was told no..when I questioned it I was told that she wouldn't be arguing with me and cut off
I ended up paying another $23 a day for 5 days to have a $0 excess as it seemed ridiculous to risk $2000 even when not at fault, but the whole thing didn't seem right
It's probably hidden in their terms and conditions, but they don't disclose it to you until they have picked you up in the shuttle and taken you back to their depot.
I will say it was a nice modern car and I was happy with everything else - I feel they could be alot more transparent and upfront about this policy
