★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In these days, we're spoilt for choice, so many great restaurants within a couple of kilometres, my experience today will never get me back. Thought I'd order takeaways to relax at home, eat in front of the Tele. Called and was told 10 to 15 minutes, I went there 20 minutes later. Never expected to wait for at least another 20 minutes. This place is not new to me, in fact I'll tell you that their steaks are good, but so are many other restaurants and such service is totally unacceptable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I chose this restaurant based on the online menu, but when we got there we were informed that was the dinner menu. The lunch menu did not have the items on it we had been looking forward to, so that was annoying. The steak was delicious and tender, but the seasonal vegetables that came with it was a very small portion. The waitress was offhand to the point of rudeness. She did not check whose were whose and dropped the plates in seemingly random order.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our waitresses were very nice young ladies who were very friendly. But we had order a meat lovers pizza, a burger, a steak and ribs not only was the ribs stone cold but we asked for no seasoning or anything on the steak because of allergies when the steak came out there was seasoning on the fries and the waitress said the chef put it on anyway. Not to mention there was vomit all over the mens bathroom, all up the walls it was disgusting!!
There was a group of young adults and most of them did not look of age outside drinking who were very rowdy and chugging jugs of beer and it sounded like they were smashing glasses. It was a Saturday night which we understand but the time that we went it was meant to be a family restaurant not a club. When we complained to the waitress about it nothing was done so we asked to speak the manager and he was very rude and came to the table with a smug look on his face, when we told him that we had experience in hospitality he all of a sudden he became the owner of the restaurant. He was very rude to myself and my family and there was no reason for it. He said that we were picking for the argument when we just wanted to let him that he could lose his manager licence over it. Not only that but he also try to step towards myself but also to my wife and daughter trying to look down on us almost trying to intimidate us.
We used to love going to Applejacks because the food was great as well as the service and the owner that we had met was amazing. Sadly because of this experience we will never be coming back. We have also reported this to the Auckland Council as well as the Police for over serving alcohol.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thank you to our waitress who looked after our table tonight (106 I think we were seated) and kept my grumpy 2 year old daughter busy with a kids activity pack. (So sorry we didn’t catch your name)
Bit of a wait on food (100% understandable and expected being a Saturday night and we didn’t book, and we ordered ribs and steaks so?♀️) but we were seen to asap and the food that arrived was mint, compliments to the kitchen.
Our first time here, we are definitely looking forward to coming back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Perfect place to chill! ??? The team I was with had burgers and I was the only one who ordered pizza. Ordered food and drinks from the bar are great! 2 Bombay gin and 1 Sx on the Beach are perfect to end your day fine while watching Tokyo2020!
Good place, good company.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Local Bar and Eatery in Highland Park. Decent selections on the menu, as well as Kids menu. I ordered the Scotch steak and the Bao Buns. Both were good value for money and tasty. We did have to wait for a while for the good though. I would suggest pre-ordering if coming with a big group
