We were made to order in a rush in spite of not knowing their beers yet. Chose one quickly as I was insisted "what would you like" twice within 5 seconds. Beer was ok, but the poutine, $14, was tiny and super salty.

Nice little spot tucked away in one of the industrial areas. Nice selection of beers, couple of quirky ones and some guests plus a selection of wines and local spirits. We had the Space Bomb dark IPA and the Rebel for Kicks slightly hazy IPA to start. Very nice! Nice menu reasonably priced. Fried cauliflower to share to start, then between the three of us we had the BS Burger (excellent!) with a (huge) side of fries, the toasted kumara and pesto sandwich, and the roast vege and feta salad. All were really tasty and as described on the menu. A glass of local Pinot and the guest "Death Cookie" coconut stout to finish and we were done! A great night out in a local establishment...

Good vibes, great beer and really excellent burgers and fries. Get the fries done in beef fat with a side of gravy - so good. They had some live music one of the nights we were there.

A fabulous tasting experience followed by a tour of the brewery. We admired Ethan’s knowledge and enthusiasm for he brews. Thanks for an informative and entertaining time. Loved the β€˜Dream Walker’ and the β€˜Mango Lassie’

I came to b.effect with an empty stomach and high hopes. Poutine: yeah nah yeah, pretty good. Environment: yeah. Nice. Warm. Ambient Service: Smiles. Scripted. Beer: Yeah nah yeah fine I guess. The beers were fine. I had two, and tasted four in total. While fresh, the flavours were relatively unbalanced. I had my first without tasting any and was left mildly disappointed. I went to the bar and asked to taste a couple before committing to another full glass, but after two or three small tasters, I was hit with the line "but not too many tasters", as though I was just in for a free drink. At that point I settled for the APA and went back to the table. While I accept that in a tourist-centric place such as Wanaka, it might be hard to run a tap room in the current market. That being said, the taproom is the place to sell your story, your ethos, and THEN your product. At this place, I felt like a short-term customer and nothing more. Honestly, come check this place out. The food was good and the venue was nice. It feels like it lacks a bit of heart and soul, but that's not what everyone is after. If you are into craft beer, this might not be the place for you. My compliments to the chefs, and the folks in the brewery. Had those on the bar been skilled enough to tell the story of b.effect, I would have been more than happy to get to know the beers and why this place does what it does. Maybe next time.
