Chef Bala originates from a small agricultural village in the Southern region of India. He knew his touch and calling was meant to explore the World of Culinary Arts having been raised by a passionate Chef and loving Mother who fed villagers abundantly during his younger years.
Having mastered a wide range of cuisine from leading French restaurants in India, he added versatility to his sleeves, expanded his culinary horizon and delved into delectable Asian Cuisine from Malaysia, Hong Kong and Macau. Chef Bala gained extensive experience as a Masterchef in Sheraton at Shenzhen, China before moving to New Zealand and gracefully evolved as a local favourite and a sought after Chef everywhere he travelled & continues to serve his passion and love for food with a hearty warm smile.
He instantly knew it was time to get a bigger space to exhibit, present and feed customers his World Class Multicuisine that he had perfected over the years.

β β β β β Used to be my favourite, however must have changed chefs, today Wednesday 12 January 2022 the meal we got takeout was bad, great no vegetables for one dish, other supposedly medium was inedible.
Might be due to Christmas leave, but for us a total total waste of time and money!

β β β β β I ordered uber eats from balas. I am so disappointed. I can't even eat this food I just spent over $30 on. The chicken is black and burnt its so bad. Bala also missed the can of drink for my order so I paid for something I didn't receive.why would you serve someone burnt A really really good example of bad service and bad food. Will never order here again. Buyer beware. So disappointe

β β β β β Balaβs Indian restaurant is located on the corner of Pembroke rd near Hamilton lake. It is a new Indian restaurant in hamilton It has approximately 9 tables inside. Itβs fairly simple decore however is suited to this style of restaurant.
I placed an online order for a meal for 5pm pickup but wasnβt ready until approximately 530pm. Not too bad for me as we werenβt in a rush but for others might be a problem.
The butter chicken and naan were great. Full of flavour. I have tried most Indian places in Hamilton and this was very good.

β β β β β I can easily say Bala's in Pembroke is a great place to dine. Its simplicity in setting might trick you, however the food and super lovely staff and fantastic chef more than compensate. The dosa is perfect, and the cauliflower 65 is divine. The curries are flavoursome, and not greasy. Highly recommend this local gem.
