Room was small, was expecting some view but it was unfortunately just a street view. Not soundproof so you could hear what's going on in the streets. Location is near the beach and the main street where all the cafes, restaurants and shops are at. Just opposite a supermarket with ample parking space. If you are on the second floor, you'll also have to lug your luggages up because there's no lift.

Ocean view room. Shower head had to be replaced on our first morning. Leaked water everywhere. Badly designed bathroom. Bath has been replaced with walk in shower but glass petition is at the wrong end so water goes out to the door. Not a lot of thought has gone in to designing it. Convenient place to stay and reasonably priced. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

Awesome spot and clean rooms, only downside was it gets very hot the wee fan is noisy/not enough to cool room needs air conditioning, our room we couldn’t leave window open as outside noise was too much. Other than that would definitely recommend and stay again- restaurant is lovely too.

Definitely Recommend. Very clean and tidy room not much space but sufficient for our short stay in the Driftwood single room. On the ground floor so makes coming and going very easy. Hotel is in Town and New World supermarket is just over the road , along with other shops a short walk away. It says Beachfront Hotel Hokitika and its lives up to its name being right on the beach. Highly recommend the Ocean View Restaurant and Bar we had pork belly and sirloin steak absolutely delicious. Thank you ?

This was my first time staying at this hotel and it was one with a few disappointments. The restaurant was great as we had a combination of good food and a sea view ☺️. After talking with a couple of other people it was disappointing to find the rooms where hot and there was only a small fan to cool the room down with which doesn't work it would have been better with air conditioning. The staff were very helpful giving us another room with a big window we could open to help cool our room down. The rooms themselves were clean ,tidy and a all round great room. Yes I would stay again as all in all it was a good stay, as well as handy to a wide range of shops for both eating and shopping. So I would recommend you give them a try but maybe not during the summer period. I gave 3 star for the reason of lack of air conditioning to cool a very hot room.

Avoid this "hotel" at all costs! You will be met by a verbally aggressive general manager, the front desk is only available from 12pm to 9pm if it is manned at all, your lucky if they answer the phone. There is no room service breakfast, no lunch available in the complex at all - and you won't be told this till you have checked in and paid. There is no default house keeping unless you put a little sign outside before 9am every day, they also do not tell you this when you check in. Room service will wash your dishes in the bathroom sink and you will witness them drying it on your used towels. You will find the previous guests hair in the bathroom vanity where the shower is so weak you can't get wet / you'll report this to reception who will tell you they will look into it. They will tell you they can't fix if. They can - remove the water restricter From the shower head! You will find zero consistency from housekeeping, then will move your personal items, and throw away unopened personal food items, like crackers and bottled water, that you keep on the writing tables. There is no air conditioning - terrible in a Damp environment. You will be treated as though you are the great inconvenience of the day each time you speak to someone. And finally - you will receive your final charges to your credit card with items you did not order. This place holds its self out as a hotel - the only thing going for it is the view nature provided. If your looking for the most disorganized, mismanaged and poorly trained accommodation provider in New Zealand then make a visit / otherwise you take your money elsewhere!

My husband and I loved our stay at Beachfront Hotel. We stayed in one of the Ocean view rooms and the view certainly did not disappoint. The room had everything we needed and the hotel staff were all incredibly lovely. On top of our daily full buffet breakfast (which was laid out beautifully) we dined one evening for dinner and the dinner was absolutely top notch. Only slight negative was the lack of parking, but i suppose thats to be expected over the School Holiday period.

Second time staying here and we love it. Make sure you book the beachfront rooms as they are awesome! Spacious rooms with lovely balconies looking out to the ocean. The sunsets are amazing! Would definitely stay again.
