★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We rented two rooms at Beechwood. We needed a little more space for two mature couples and we were prepared to pay a premium for what appeared to be largish one bedroom apartments. One room was as represented, but the other was a tiny little one room with a large bed taking up most of the space with no comfortable sitting chairs, as in the other room. Later we established that the management had locked off the second room as obviously they did not wish us to use it. But we still had to pay the premium for it. Michael the manager, a quite disingenuous fellow, thought it was quite cute that they could sell a sub-optimum room at premium prices, and maybe they could try to sell all there rooms at even higher prices since most tourists were suckers, in his opinion. With that sort of negative attitude it was pointless to indicate to him the copious mold and detritus around the shower and the pubic hair and grime near the toilet, muck in the kitchen, crumbs on the bed. And this was a joint which was supposed to be clean? Possibly the worst of it all was the noise at night and the aggressive nature of students in the neighboring streets. Clearly Beechwood is in a student district and the wild parties, some in the street and across the road were beyond bearable. Finally, the car park is designed for matchbox toys and is extremely dangerous to maneuver out of, having to back out into a busy street. It appears the management has lots of friends who they cajole to provide reviews which don't represent the truth. Bottom line, this joint should be avoided, unless you are a boisterous student!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful people who were very kind as I had an emergency at Dunedin Hospital. Quiet, clean with well equipped rooms and I would recommend Beechwood to anyone who needs a bit more than just a place to sleep. Much appreciated. X

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely motel. Very clean, modern and everything I needed. Owners very friendly and helpful, and even offered to carry my bag up & down the stairs.
Not too far from a supermarket and the Botanical Gardens.
I would happily go back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are a lot of motels on George St, and I haven't tried them all, but I'd have to say this one is really nice. The room (#10) was spacious for a single room apartment and had a large separate bathroom. No bath but a large shower. It was very clean and well maintained. It was quiet. It was comfortable. Just very nice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautifully modern, clean, cosy and warm accomodation. Incredibly comfortable bed and linens-made for a very comfortable sleep. Nice tea selection and kitchenette facilities. Nice mini toiletries. Sky tv. Thanks we thoroughly enjoyed our accomodation and would definitely come back.
