★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Four of us went for lunch, waitress didn't write down our orders, two of us had exactly the same but they forgot one meal,took so long to come as well by the time the missed meal came we were wanting to leave. food was nothing special.wont go back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food here is excellent, the staff are equally so. As this is an estate winery the wine list is mainly focused on the estate wines however as these are very good it is not a major issue. This is a great place for a special occasion and not too distant from Christchurch, strongly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Black Estate Cellar Door is an experience to be had. An hour outside of Christchurch it is the perfect distance for a warm drive through vineyard country, before a 5 star meal. With a selection of their own wines they offer a simple often changing menu inspired by the products of the local value. The lamb was fabulous and with seasonal truffles was one of the best meals of my life. The menu is surprisingly affordable at $40 a main, with wine around $50 a bottle. Book ahead.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had lunch here on Sunday. Excellent meal and views. Left my phone behind didn’t realise until I got home. Black Estate kindly delivered my phone back to Christchurch the next morning. Excellent place and excellent service.
