Standard tavern but did a surprisingly good cheese burger. Lots of outdoor seating overlooking the inlet, big carpark. Busy when the farewell spit tour is loading. Much better alternative than the antivax cafe

Lamb shank was good, but the pre-frozen vegetables were bad. Seafood platter was greasy and very average, batter made everything worse. Roast beef was just ok. Overall would probably avoid but not too many options really. Beer on tap was good.

Great family feeling bar, with plenty of cheap food and beers available for a small town. Has a great sunset balcony at the back, and plenty of seats within. Does takeaways, gluten free options, milkshakes, pies, chicken and more. Heaps of beers, RTDs etc in the fridges too if you don't want anything on tap. The burgers are absolutely delicious! I'd recommend the takeaway menu as it is great bang for your buck.

We waited almost 90 minutes for a meal that we ended up being refunded for. Steak was meant to be medium, it was overcooked and dry. The prices that were dictated on the menu would make you assume that the food wouldn’t of been out of a packet. The lamb shank was nice, but the packet potato and pre-frozen vegetables were not. My friend ordered the roast, but the ‘roast’ vegetables were also pre-frozen, boiled and no flavour, and not roasted ?

We visited the Collingwood tavern while on holiday in the South Island. The staff were friendly and hotel clean we ordered fish and chips and battered mussels the fish and chips were lovely but we were extremely dissapointed in the 6 battered mussels we purchased as they used marinated mussels for the mussels deep frying marinated a first for me and a bad experience they tasted off because of the strong vinegar flavour deep fried it was a horrible experience .please use fresh mussels next time

We stopped here for dinner one busy Friday two weeks ago and I ordered the blue cod and chips. The blue cod was overcooked and the batter greasy. The side salad looked so small I felt sorry for it. My husband had a steak chips and salad. The portion size was very small and at $30 each for the mains they felt very over priced. We sat outside which was nice and the beer was reasonably priced. They were nice enough to substitute kumera chips for potato chips and over all the experience was okay.

Delicious fish and chips and we sat outside at the picnic tables in their garden , on the waters edge . Beautiful views .

A few of us were visiting the beautiful golden bay, and stopped in here to refuel with some lunch! What a great choice! We each ordered a coffee (Flat White) a seafood chowder each and a fisherman's basket to share. The Coffee was delicious, as coffee often is! The chowder was thick and creamy, and not too rich which is nice. The fish and seafood in the chowder were fresh, and there was also a good amount of vegetables, providing some nice textures and expanding the flavour profile, without detracting too much from the seafood. The fishermans basket was nice, with Mussels, Scallops, fishbites, squid rings and chips. Well cooked in clean oil, and a nice selection of sauces. A great stop over for a well priced feed, and also a good bar with a pool table just incase the weather is not so flash!
