โ โ โ โ โ This extensive hotel may have been cheerful with bus loads of international tourists but we hardly saw or heard another soul in the vast facility. The endless corridors with bare beige walls and monochrome carpet contributed to the sadness of 'covid times'
On a BIG positive the breakfast included in the tariff was superb. On our 2 week road trip this was the only accomodation with onsite a la carte breakfast in the restaurant. Thank you.

โ โ โ โ โ This is a perfectly good tourist hotel. It's right in the centre of the township which is handy for walking, but don't expect views. For that you'll need some of the lakeside hotels.

โ โ โ โ โ Basic 1980's set up designed to cater for many bus loads of overseas tourists. You can get lost in these corridors. Pretty dead now and not likely to appeal to New Zealanders or Aussies. Very clean though. Only stayed because we were put up by the Hollyford Experience hike.

โ โ โ โ โ Best location and stay to go to Milford sound. Quiet and relaxing but with the Great Walks at your doorstep. Not as expensive as Queens Town but just as good facilities. Plenty of motels and lodges to choose from. Distinction service was excellent despite covid restrictions. Recommend this hotel to stay and the adjoining restaurant has great breakfast buffet.

โ โ โ โ โ Unfortunately, I feel that the last few years of covid have taken their toll on the Distinction Luxmore. I hope that with the opening up of NZ to overseas visitors this will change. The hotel felt tired and depressed. The room was cold on arrival and not entirely clean. There was plaques on the wall that weren't easily read, like how to turn the heater on and even finding your room wasn't easy. There was only one option in the hotel for dinner, which we were encouraged to use but when we turned up the wait staff didn't seem to want us there. We had dinner early but the service was disjointed and we canceled our final drinks when they never showed. Our room came with breakfast so the next morning we headed back in to the restaurant thinking "this should be good as the reviews were good". The food was average the service poor. I could hear the chefs swearing behind the open kitchen. The food was hard to get to as it was a long reach across the bar. Perk coffee and jugs of kinda hot water for tea, very few cups. When I asked for coffee I was snapped at by the staff but later saw the same lady deliver a flat white to another customer. Food was average and uninviting. Back in the lobby I sat at one of the tables there and noticed dried drink stains on the tables that hadn't been wiped. It was sad to see but on par with the rest of our stay. The telling thing is that not one staff member asked how things were, from the restaurant to the reception. So they know they are not up to standard. My question is where is the management of this business because this starts with them. There is a real lack of respect of themselves and their customers.
