Yesterday was my third trip to their shoe shop. With a pair of moccasin slippers, Australian brand. The first was to sew an edge of stitch thread that had come loose, cost $12. The next trip was the other side that had come undone, this time I was charged $20 for the same job 2 months apart. Served by the son both times. Problem was this time the size of the slipper had changed from being tight and and fitting to, after they had β€œfixed” ie re-threaded it, the slipper was so loose it kept slipping off the back of my heel and I could no longer wear it. I was served by the father this third time. I brought it in 10 days after it was apparently fixed. I would have brought it in sooner but I had a serious injury and was on bedrest until yesterday when I attended in crutches. I explained my concern, what had happened and this older man threw the slipper on the counter and said β€œthere’s nothing we can do for you!”. I tried again explaining that the fit is now worse after having it fixed than when I originally brought it in the second time. Meaning it was not threaded tight enough. He again said no, we can’t do it. I just stood there looking at him. When he then started yelling at me (I was the only customer there at the time but I saw the son’s head pop out when he heard the yelling). I was flabbergasted! And shocked to be treated in this way when there was a clear problem with their workmanship to be begin with. Not even an apology, just yelling at me. I hobbled out on my crutches and vowed never to use their services ever again. I will also make known (as I work in a very large institution that spans most of Wellington and beyond) about this poor service and unprofessional behaviour and actively discourage anyone from using their service either. Very disappointed. So disrespectful !!

After 1 month and $95, the heel of my boot which they just resoled fell off. They refused to fix the shoe and shifted the blame. The workmanship and customer service was horrendous, something I have NEVER experienced before. He was very aggressive, yelling at me, called me thick and refused to fix the shoe as I was " a customer that would never be satisfied". I left the shop feeling ripped off, threatened, belittled and undermined.

Got the soles of my sandals replaced ($30) before the winter, after a few wears the soles started coming off so I stopped wearing them. Just took this pair and another pair in to fix. Asked her just to glue the parts that were coming off back on. She said it can't be done and the shoe had to be entirely re-soled at a cost. I wasn't happy with this as sole shouldn't have been coming off already after 4 or 5 wears! Was told (in not so many words) that I was lying - saying a few times to 4 or 5. She acted like she clearly didn't need customers like me and said that if I wanted good quality repairs, it should cost $120-$150. So she defended their poor quality repairs by arguing symantics and that I paid for relatively cheap repairs. Left the shop with one of the worst experiences of customer service in NZ. Took my shoes to another place who said that Dixon St's repair job can be repaired easily with a bit of glue. Won't be coming back.

The proprietor is an expert who knows how to repair shoes. He did a great job of repairing a set of platform heels for us recently and we've had good results in the past. His work is good quality and done in a timely fashion. We'd have no hesitation in taking further shoes or bags in there for repair.

Nice shop with all sorts of supplies for footwear care. Great selection of laces, nuggets, creams, inner soles, trees etc. Offers a full range of re-soling services including welted soles. Friendly and helpful service. Highly recommended.

Asked for a full resole + replacing the cork of a expensive pair of shoes. Unfortunately, they only did a half sole repair. What's more is that instead of taking out the existing stitching, they just stitched over the top of it. You can see protrusions on the welt on top as well as on the bottom of the sole, where the existing stitching has impeded the new one. This means in future when I get resolved somewhere else, it's likely I'll have to replace the welt entirely. Unfortunately cannot recommend based on this experience.

Went into Dixon St Shoe Repairs a few weekends ago to fix my Dior Kitten heels which cost $1k. Prior to this, I did a lot of research on Google, reddit, Facebook, etc regarding services and quality due to the cost of my shoes. The shoes required a builder underneath the shoe as it had worn down due to being leather. The first man I spoke to was amazing and explained what would be done. On pick up I noticed half the bottom of the sole was cut off and thought this would be okay until I took them home and realised the material was fraying and coming off the shoe. I went back immediately and was promised it to be repaired to the previous condition (no fraying and the material stuck to the sole of the shoe) but I returned today at 1:36pm to glue marks all over the toe, holes in the material on the toe area and more fraying. I voiced this to the old man who was working who yelled at me and verbally abused me saying the damage was already made previously (which was done by Dixon St Shoe Repair on their initial repair job). I had to call my partner who came to support me due to the workers verbal abuse. He mentioned that I should return if they get damaged again and I said I couldn’t keep coming back every time the material unravelled due to poor repair job. I asked him how I could contact the owner/ manager of the shop but resulted in more yelling towards me. In the end, he agreed to repairing the shoe but was extremely rude and abusive. I am unsure if this is because I am a young Asian woman but I would NEVER recommend this shoe repair shop to anyone and will be taking further action.

My partner went here to get her heels repaired. The first guy who we dealt with was super helpful and knew exactly what we wanted to happen regarding the sole of the heels. Upon picking up, my partner noticed that the tip of the heel had started fraying and unravelling which wasn’t the case to begin with. She then returned to them and they agreed to fix the unravelling. Upon the second time picking up, we noticed that the tip had been glued on quite roughly and the material now had a hole in it which wasn’t there before. When we brought this up with the man who served us this time around, he became very rude and disrespectful, yelling and pointing at my partner saying the damage had always been there when the damage only ever occurred after getting the heels repaired at their shop initially. I was shocked at how rude the man was, considering we brought up the issue in a calm demeanour, hoping to come to a compromise/resolution. Because of this experience, I would not recommend going here for their services.
