★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It’s a good alternative to Goldings. Good selection of craft beer. You can bring your chicken from next door. And it has a relaxed and comfortable vibe. There are of course birdcages plural/many/more than one.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Used to come here a lot when lived in Wellington. Recently visited when in town - $54 for two cocktails (old fashioned). Thought it was $44, only to discover this charge on my statement this week. $54 for two standard cocktails in a venue like this is ridiculous. Crumpet is nearby & is a far better priced option

Staff were reasonably attentive.
Avoid visiting the bathroom if you can. It's very clearly the least of their priorities.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Supre friendly bar staff. Very chill when there's no events happening. Big bonus, they are connected to Heartbreaker. Great chicken burgers go well with a nice bourbon and coke.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ordered and paid for a beer from the bar they said they would bring over along with a menu. They forgot we had ordered beer despite the bar being empty Friday after work. Lots off staff on, but they were too preoccupied talking to each other. Had to ask for a menu. Ordered and paid for a meal which they also forgot. After asking, the food was delivered slowly and not all in one go. Had to ask for napkins. I was offered a free drink, but was weirdly told it was half price. After we got the last bit of food (we were basically finished) we were given plates. It's at this stage we left.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Loved our night at Birdcage! Loved the vibe, super chill and great background music. Our waiter was awesome, knew the menus and was super approachable. Food was unreal! My favourite was the chicken thighs and chips and the Mac and cheese was delicious! Can’t speak higher of this place, definitely will be back!
