★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Haven't been here in many years. It was really sad going there with my family and to see the state of it now. It seems to be the only people that goes there are the ones that wreck the area. I hope the grass will get cut and the weeds will get sprayed throughout summertime. I hope more families will take time to enjoy this place this summer. Get the kids away from their technology and bring this place back to life.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very scenic location for a picnic or swim. Fun little walk between the two swimming spots. The cave is more of a depression in the rock face (maybe we missed it). The parking area with the toilets needs a bit of maintenance e.g Cut the grass, fix the gravel road because you would struggle to access the river without a vehicle with sufficient clearence. Tho did love the fact you have to drive through thick native forest to access the river! Hopefully DOC sees this review and the forest gets maintained for years to come! Some picnic tables/benches would be a good addition too..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome swimming hole about 15km from New Plymouth city. Must visit in summer with decent clean toilet and plenty of parking. The spot is 5mins drive from the road and you can take your suv or normal car. No overnight camping. Gate closed at 8.30pm in summer and 5pm in winter. Lots of space for bbq. Bring sunscreen and umbrella ☔. The water is amazing for kids and adults to swim ??.
