The theme of Gengy’s is originated from the founder of the Mongol Empire who had invaded and conquered most of Europe, Asia and Africa with his warriors.
After they had won a battle they had a huge victory feast in the shelter using their shields turn upside down over roaring camp fires and cook newly discovered meats and vegetables native to the conquered lands. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Always love Gengys but the Tauranga restaurant was noisy to the point where I felt our conversations with my family were straight yelling!! We were also asked 'When are you leaving because people are waiting for a table'. Never, ever had that questioned to me in a restaurant. Very rude. I would've given Gengys Tauranga a 1 star if the food wasn't so good!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great experience. Lots of meat, salads, sauces etc to choose from and one of the guys cooks it for you on a large hotplate. Go for seconds, thirds and more, but you get full quick!

Loved that it's a build your own meal (you pick each element of your meal, make your own sauce and then they cook it for you live - doesn't take long). Great concept, easy to get on board with. Would recommend. Not sure the price as I wasn't the one that paid.
